William Cecil Turner Greasley was born in Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, in 1880 to William and Margaret Anne Greasley. He was baptised at Emmanuel, Oswaldtwistle, on 29 February 1880. Both his parents were school teachers and living at the School House. In both the 1881 and 1891 censuses William was living with his parents in Oswaldtwistle, Blackburn.
In 1901 William was living in Norfolk with his occupation being given as a musical student. His surname was spelt Gressley on the census. In 1908 he married Mary Anne Sawford. They moved to Prittlewell, Essex, and the 1911 census described William as a professional musician.
Street records of 1924 show them living at 19 Wood Street, St Annes on Sea and at this time William C T Greasley was described as a Professor of Music. In 1934 they were living at 46 Dorset Road, Lytham St Annes and their surname was listed as Turner-Greasley. Margaret died on the Fylde in 1936, aged 55 years. The following year William married Dorothy Dickinson (1893 -1987) at St Thomas' Church, St Annes on Sea.
At the time of the art donation their address was 13 Balmoral Road, Lytham St Annes.
William died in Norfolk in 1960 but was buried at Lytham, as was Dorothy, who died in 1987, aged 94. They are listed as Turner-Greasley.
