Edith Fielding

Edith Parkin Edwards was born in Rochdale in 1881 to Isaac, a steam engine driver, and his wife, Susannah.

In 1881 she was living in Castleton, Rochdale, with her parents and brothers, James and Stephen. Her father died in 1891, aged 39, and she then lived with her widowed mother and three brothers, Frank being a later addition to the family. By 1901 Edith was working as a waitress and living with her mother and Frank.

Edith married William Edwin Fielding at St Andrew’s United Reform Church in Rochdale in 1906. He was born in Oldham in 1867 to Thomas, a book-keeper, and his wife, Emma. In 1891 he was living with his parents and sisters, Sarah and Pamela, in Rochdale and working as a 'carter'. In the 1901 census his occupation was described as 'coal agent'. 

Edith and William moved to the Fylde and the 1911 census showed them living at Wheatsheaf, St Andrew’s Road, St Annes on Sea with William's occupation being given as 'coal carter'. At the time of the donation, in 1951, Edith’s address was 47 St Andrew’s Road.

William died on 2 November 1943 and Edith died in Victoria Hospital on 14 August 1957. They were buried at Lytham Park Cemetery.
